If you fancy something different Kokeb is the place to be. This is where I go for my injera fix.
A quiet place to... enjoy authentic Ethiopian cuisine. It really looks like you are visiting someone’s house. Restaurant itself is quite small but that adds to its charm. There are traditional Ethiopian artefacts (like drums and horse-tail fly swatters hanging on the walls) which instantly create the correct atmosphere You may as well be in Ethiopia.
Menu is varied, there are at least three soup options. Lamb, beef, poultry and vegetable dishes. Either stand alone or in the form of a taster plate (so you can sample a bit of each.)
Getenesh, the owner of the restaurant, is very friendly and helpful. She will easily calculate how many injera is needed (these flatbreads are very filling but there is always the option to add one more) and talk you through the accompaniment options. There are the authentic, spicy options or slightly lesser spicy ones to suit the European tastes. You can choose from meat or vegetables. I absolutely loved the spinach dish.

An absolute gem of a local restaurant! The place is run by an amazing woman. Beautiful Ethiopian food. She can always... recommend great dishes to try. A fun and delicious option for date night or dinner out with a few friends.read more
